The Lahore branch of Meat The Cheese runs its own menu — three Angus cuts, four Prime Beef dishes, and a list Karachi does not carry.
Meat The Cheese has two branches, and people assume they are the same restaurant twice. They are not. Lahore runs its own menu, with its own dishes and prices. If you are eating in Gulberg, this is the list that applies.
C-3 Noor Jahan Road, near Hussain Chowk, Gulberg III. Open daily, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM — the same hours as Karachi.
On Google the Lahore branch holds 4.2 from 2,698 reviews, from 2,468. The brand has been trading since 2017.
Two beef sections, and they work differently from one another.
Premium Steak Selection prints the cut, the weight and the price, and nothing else:
Prime Beef prints a description and the accompaniments:
All prices are exclusive of service charges and GST.
Eight beef options between the two sections. Four of the five Prime Beef dishes are built on tenderloin or brisket rather than a loin steak — so if you came for a slab of steak, the Premium Steak Selection is where the classic cuts live.
The Angus Sirloin is worth flagging, because Lahore has it and Karachi does not. It is the smallest of the three at 240–280g against 340–400g for the others, and the cheapest.
As a cut, sirloin sits between the other two in character: leaner and firmer than a ribeye, a single muscle rather than the ribeye's several or the T-bone's pair. If you want a straightforward steak without the ribeye's fat or the T-bone's bone, that is the one. The T-bone and the ribeye are apart — choose on the cut, not the number.
Three of the better beef dishes in Gulberg are filed elsewhere on the menu.
The Pulled Beef Blitz, in The Burger Crowd. An Oakwood-smoked pulled beef burger with their barbecue sauce and cheddar, served with fries. The only place on either city's menu where a specific wood is named.
Fume Tacos, in Starters. Mini tacos with wood-smoked brisket. Lahore-only before committing to a plate of it.
Steak It All In, in Sandwiches & Wraps. A steak sandwich layered with cheese, served with fries on the side. Also worth knowing: The Breadwinner's roasted beef with bocconcini in ciabatta, and two Angus-patty burgers — The Patty Animal and Meat The Classic.
Beyond the sirloin, the Lahore kitchen carries dishes the Karachi list does not: Spec-Taco-Lar, hard-shell tacos oozing with cheese sauce; Pasta La Vista, a fettuccine alfredo with Parmesan, sour cream and fresh herbs; Meat The Classic, a spicy Angus burger; and The Pulled Beef Blitz, an Oakwood-smoked pulled beef burger with their own barbecue sauce.
Meat The Cheese was named Winner, Best Innovation Dish, at the APRA Awards 2019, run by the All Pakistan Restaurant Association and decided by public vote. It went to a dish, not to a restaurant, and belongs to the brand rather than to any one branch — Lahore included.
C-3 Noor Jahan Road, near Hussain Chowk, Gulberg III, open daily from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
The Premium Steak Selection runs from the Angus Sirloin up to the Angus Ribeye. The Prime Beef dishes, which come with sides, run from to. Prices exclude service charges and GST.
Three Angus cuts — T-Bone at 350–400g, Ribeye at 340–380g and Sirloin at 240–280g — plus a Prime Beef list of four plated dishes: Truly Lit Brisket, Tender Loving Loin, The Finest Cut and The Shitake Steak.
Fume Tacos, in Starters — mini tacos topped with the same wood-smoked brisket that goes into the full Truly Lit Brisket plate.
